This Helsinki based foursome, formerly know as “Peace Of Mind”, performed quite a feat in their formation year 2001. As relative unknowns to the scene (to me, that is) they managed to release an EP produced, co-written & co-sung by the mighty Michael Monroe, known to you as the person at the helm of the legendary Hanoi Rocks. Two tracks of that EP are present here and that brings me to the only minor point of this CD. The difference in production is of course obvious. Not that these very talented guys did a bad job but to put new tracks alongside those handled by the master of everything 80’s glam, is something you shouldn’t do.
But that’s really the only downside to this excellent record. The title is perfectly chosen, by the way, because this really is a cruisin’ trip down melody lane. Slipping Stitches produces a poppy variety of the Skandi avalanche that is taking my, by now legendary, desk by storm the last year. Vocals, slightly reminiscent of Enuff Z’Nuff’s Donnie Vie, as in a singer that is not screaming but singing, combined with highly melodic guitar playing makes this album a real treat. This is an excellent CD to fill my summer days with, a compliment that should not be taken lightly. (
