Solo album # 2 from ex-Accept, Moon’Doc and Victory guitarist Herman Frank and of far more interest than the debut, thanks to better compositions and the recruitment of new musicians, including Swedish ace singer Rick Altzi (At Vance, Sandalinas, Thunderstone, Epysode), second guitarist Mamalitsidis Cristos and drummer Michael Wolpers. As the title might suggest, “Right In The Guts” is a gutsy album full of hooks, riffs and solos. Energy is the key word here and for little less than an hour headbangers won’t get the chance to settle down for a second. From “Roaring Thunder” to “So They Run”, this is a heavy metal rollercoaster in its purest form. So, hats off to veteran Herman Frank, who not only composed and produced the material, but also mixed and mastered the whole thing himself. Headbangers: mind your necks! ( CL)

Listened to this one 4 times now and it;s a real grower for me. I actually like this one a little more than the debut. Great riffing and solos are "OK", excellent production. Right in Your Guts Starlight Falling To Pieces Raise Your Hand Black Star Are among my favs...

Great stuff from Herman Frank. He's a greatly underrated guitar and metal genius. Moon-Doc, Poison Sun, Accept, Victory - it does not matter: all his material, pure teutonic metal, is great. I like his stuff actually better than Accept's: much more accessible and in-your-face. And I disagree with the reviewers here who say the first album was better. It was very good, but this is better. I like Altzi's vocals, they suit the music perfectly. The only (minor) quibble is that the album is slightly over-produced, causing some distortion in the sound. But that aside, its great, all the way through. I put it only a notch behind OVERKILL'S magnificent opus at the top of the metal pile this year.

Good and average songs mixed... Like on debut, production is not so good to say at least. Better production next time will be much more appreciated.

Since Herman Frank wrote NO songs for the latest Accept effort, I imagine these tracks may have been rejected for 'Stalingrad.' A shame, to an extent, but a blessing for Herman Frank's latest solo effort 'Right In The Guts.' Following the same trajectory as 'Loyal To None,' and the title cut here is my fave song off both CDs. Pure, teutonic hard metal....just about my favorite style....is splashed all over this CD. Highly recommended if you like ANYTHING Mr. Frank has ever been involved with, and that list is long!!!

Agree with astonbob , this is a step back from ,,loyal to none" and despite the mighty RICK ALTZI (AT VANCE/FREQUENCY/SANDALINAS/THUNDERSTONE) as lead singer who provide a great performance , the overall feeling is slighty disappointing . But don't get me wrong , there is still plenty of riff and the old ACCEPT/VICTORY fans like me , should be glad to hear tracks like "king's call" or "raise your hands" ! Anyway MOON'DOC ,,realm of legends" or 2009's first solo ,,loyal to none" are far better ****
