Since the release of “Divanity”, the debut platter from Swedish symphonic metal band The Murder Of My Sweet, a lot has changed. For starters three of the five band members are gone: guitarist Daniel Palmqvist, bassist Johan Niemann and keyboarder Andreas Lindahl. Alongside female vocalist Angelica Rylin (lyrics) and drummer/keyboarder Daniel Flores (music), we now find Christopher Vetter on guitars and Teddy Westlund on bass. Also worth mentioning is that AFM Records took over the band from Frontiers Records.
I called “Divanity” an adventurous debut album, but the response to that album was quite divergent. Some of our members found it an ‘amazing’ album, while others called it ‘generic’ and ‘way too commercial’. Plus … not everyone seems to like the voice of Rylin, but personally I think her vocals suit the material like a glove. Anyway, nearly two and a half years have passed since the release of the debut album, so the new one has been a long time coming. Angelica Rylin comments: “We wrote nearly enough songs for two full-length albums and had to carefully choose these thirteen to truly represent the new, updated TMOMS.” It all sounds quite commercial again (no complaints from my side), but at the same time a bit darker as well. With a total playing time of almost one hour, the album is rather long, but thanks to the variety on offer, boredom doesn’t get a chance. Highlights include “Unbreakable” (first single/video), the ballad “Meant To Last Forever”, the catchy pair of “Idolize” & “Kind Of Lousy” and the epic closing track “Phantom Pain”, on which the band pulls all the stops. (CL)

Some good moments but i think it's too commercial for my taste...The album could have been the wet dream for each WITHIN TEMPTATION fan...***5/7

Very good second album and a band becoming real contenders in the female fronted rock stakes.
Just wish Mind's Eye would do one more album with maybe Miss Rylin guesting.
