Hannibal, a Greek band in business since 2003, started out as a project of ex-Spitfire singer with same name. Hannibal and his cohorts released their debut ‘This I U’ in 2006 which landed them a spot or two on some rather nice Greek festivals. Hannibal called it quits after a couple of years, relocated to London, UK and decided to re-form his band. When looking at the line-up which played on this record it is noticed that the rhythm-section is no longer available and replaced by… Hulk & Doctor. Hannibal must recruit his members by use of nickname, I think.
But that’s when the fun ends; I was not charmed by the endeavors of Hannibal and his friends. The whole affair is rather cold and emotionless sounding, not in the least due to Hannibal’s rather bland voice. The songs don’t stick to my picky brain and the production is flat. What did enlighten my listening experience were the hefty guitar antics of Mr. Steve Sovo but it wasn’t enough to save the day. (
