Following "Better Than Dreams" (2000) and "The Real Thing" (2005), the Christian Tolle Project a.k.a. C.T.P finally presents its third CD, "The Higher They Climb". Co-produced by guitarist Tolle and Michael Voss, the album contains 12 melodic hard rock tracks that were recorded in the second half of last year. Once again it's a quite diverse album, at least as far as the input of various vocalists go. In order of appearance, the following singers pass in review: Paul Shortino (tracks 1 & 12), Leon Goewie (tracks 2 & 7), David Reece (tracks 3, 5, 6, 9 & 11), Michael Voss (tracks 4, 8 & 10). All of them have recognizable voices and put their stamp on the songs they (co-wrote) and perform. As with the former albums, we find Christian Tolle in the submissive role of guitar player, bassist and drummer, where he got help from the likes of Michael Landau, Andy Susemihl and others. Of all three albums C.T.P has released so far, this one is probably the heaviest, although it's still catchy enough to attract the melodic rock fans. Listening tip: "In And Outta Love", sung by Leon Goewie (Vengeance). ( CL)
