Second platter from this German contemporary progrock band InVertigo and follow-up to 2010’s critically acclaimed “Next Stop Vertigo” album. Veritas means ‘truth’, but contrary to what you might expect, this is not a concept album. What connect the songs though, is that they’re all about truth and deception, illusion and reality. Compared with the debut album, “Veritas” is a lot more adventurous with excellent tracks like “Lullaby”, “Suspicion” and the epic “The Memoirs Of A Mayfly”, which clocks in at 21:50 minutes. This song is presented as a bonus track, because it originates from the debut album sessions. At the time the guys weren’t satisfied about its outcome, but they managed to rework it, including a sax solo from guest musician Marek Arnold and some additional vocals from another guest, Julia Gorzelanczyk. The guys consider it as a one-song-concept album and it’s really a great track. Recommended to the fans of bands like Marillion, Muse, Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree … (CL)
