Originally known as Face Of Modesty, Kings Of Modesty have been busy creating a distinct profile for themselves since 1994. Many line-up changes later – mainly in the vocalist dept. – they succeeded in talking Jason Flinck (bass player of Brother Firetribe) into joining the band and that seemed to be a right move as many successful gigs followed in both Finland and Switzerland. In 2007, a 4-track promo EP was produced under the guidance of Emppu Vuorinen (Nightwish, Brother Firetribe), that gained a lot of interest. Enough for the guys to carry on and last year Jason Flinck and Samuel Hjelt (ex-Ancara) went on writing, recording and producing the bulk of the material for the debut album, “Hell Or Highwater”. When the album was finished in June of this year, negotiations with many labels started, but it was Escape Music that ultimately signed the band to its roster. The track “Never Touched The Rainbow” served as an aperitif (this track was regularly played on European radio stations before the official release on Sept. 25), but now we can all try (out) the main dish, which consists of all songs from the above-mentioned 4-track EP as well as 7 others. Jason Flinck already did backing vocals in Brother Firetribe, but he’s a good singer in his own right, proving what he’s capable of in each of the 11 tracks, that sound melodic and powerful at the same time. Mixed by the pair of Torsti Spoof and Jari Mikkola and mastered by no one else than Mika Jussila (Finnvox), this is surely an interesting debut album in the vein of a band like Ancara. Listening tips: opener “Never Touched The Rainbow”, “Staring Eyes”, “Once Upon A Time” (best and longest track on offer), “Miracle” (featuring a rather mysterious beginning) and the acoustic flavoured ballad “Two Hearts Collide” (which could serve as a real showcase for Flinck). Once again: an interesting start for this Finnish band, from whom I expect a lot in the future. ( CL)

This album does have some quality stuff here, like YV said though the guitars need to be more up front and with more beef. They do have hooky melodies and the singer isn't bad. I would say it is worth checking out.
YNGWIEVIKING
Not bad but nothing Groundbreaking yet The singer is OK and the songs are from good to average ,but i think the prod. reduced the efficacity ,because the sound need more body to bring the guitar riffs at the frontline ! I think in the Familly ,LEVERAGE are far better ! But the record is enjoyable ,maybe next time for the big thing, they have some kind of potential !****
