First of all, let me NOT congratulate the one whose idea it was for this album to have an ugly cover like this! What's the purpose? Scare the kids brainless? Try to appear rough & dangerous? There are better and more tasty ways of doing that, folks.
Anyway, enough rambling and on to the music on this platter. Contrary to what one might expect from an album with a cover of this ilk, the music hidden inside is of the mighty fine melodic hard rock variety. Melodic hard rock played the way it was meant to be.
Oh and the names of band members Freshi & Pacheco might ring a bell with some of you as they were once part of Babylon AD.
Syrym's debut offers the kind of bouncy hardrock that was typical for the beginning of the 90's, just before grunge started ruling the day. Think latter day Ratt, Mötley Crüe and of course some Babylon AD.
I like the rather soulful voice of Jeffrey Winslow (Vertigo, 3rd & King, …) as it fits this kind of big riffing marvelously but his rough around the edges voice is nevertheless an acquired taste and may be a turn-off to some. Not to me, though, as it adds to the rocking quality of this cool band.
I ask myself the question, though, if a fine but nothing more, release like this will hold its own in the mighty rock-year that 2008 has turned out to be. (

I'm in agreement with KVK that this album definitely has that beginning of the 90's hard rock feel...and I love it! Some of my favorites on this disc are 30 & Dirty, Foul Mouth Blues, While America Sleeps, and of course Warpath. The guitar playing on this album is awesome, and I happen to think the vocals are very good too. KVK described them as a "cool band," and I completely agree. I hope they put out another album and build on what I consider a strong debut. This is one of my faves of the year!
YNGWIEVIKING
The energy is here ,but there is a little problem : some vocals are out of tune ! I can't understand how they don't try to fix that and it's really a shame because sme ideas are good but those bad vocals are destroying everything like in the song "torn in two"too bad !
Metal Mark
I heard a slight (very) slight Babylon A.D. thing goin' on here, but the CD loses a bit of steam about halfway through. Warpath is an excellent, catchy rocker and 30 & Dirty is a cool jam. Not bad at all but not a mindblower like I was hoping for.
WOLF 359
As KVK has stated an album that brings to mind, that late 80's early 90's, style of rock and if you liked Babylon AD., then you'll probably like this. OK it's not a world beater but it is filled with bluesy hard rock, that is well played, produced and written. All in all not a bad start.
