"Rockin' With The Goose" is a musical, consisting of 15 nursery rhymes that are 300 to 500 years old. But they never sounded like this before. Instead of being sung in the typical children's nursery chanting style the way most people heard them, they have been given the 'rock' treatment and sound surprisingly fresh. Brainchild for this project was H. Lynn Kitchens. Not only did he write all the music, he also produced the project and sang all lead vocals. This is what he had to say about the music: "I chose the musical sounds from the 60s and 70s, because I believe that is some of the best music ever made. It has already stood the test of time for 30 to 40 years. Surveys have shown that all ages listen to classic rock and that each new generation of young people enjoy the Beatles and other top acts from that era." Indeed, when you listen to this musical, you will hear influences from the Beatles as well as from the Allman Brothers Band, James Brown, Chicago, Led Zeppelin, Otis Redding, Bob Seger and others. I won't call this a spectacular release, but if you have the chance to put it to a listening test, you'll agree with me that it is something like ... feel-good music. ( CL)
