AOR & melodic (hard) rock

The fact that Fair Warning released a comeback album, “Brother’s Keeper”, in the summer of 2006 didn’t mean that Dreamtide and Soul Doctor were doomed to die. Tommy Heart’s Soul Doctor was the first to break the silence (with a studio and a live album) and now it’s the turn of Helge Engelke’s Dreamtide. “Dream And Deliver” is the title of the band’s third output, delivering the listener no less than 14 tracks and 70 minutes of music, described by Engelke himself as “song-orientated rock music with hit potential”. I have my doubts about that ‘hit potential’ part (this is not exactly the kind of music that can be found in the charts right now), but I certainly agree to the songs, that sound mature and finished (as always). For those who don’t know about the band by now, let me say that the material sounds quite similar to that of Fair Warning (Engelke, Behrens and Lüderwaldt are members of both bands). Provided with well-thought arrangements and catchy melodies, the songs are of a high calibre and quite recognizable thanks to the skilled voice of Olaf Senkbeil and the snapping guitar sound of Engelke. And speaking of personnel, it’s great to see ex-Scorpions bass player Francis Buchholz in the line-up. He replaced Ole Hempelmann and seems to be the perfect rhythm partner for CC. “Dream And Deliver” is a very good comeback album, featuring a good balance between rockers (10) and ballads (4). Among my favourite tracks of the moment are “Your Beat”, “Dancing When The Night Falls”, “To Everybody” and “Help Me” (even though it’s a bit bombastic). What comes next: a new Fair Warning album? Time will tell! (CL)

I'm more than a little behind the times, as I've only just heard this album for the first time! Apart from the rather confusing opening track, this is a really high class album that brought a smile to my face throughout - and especially the (as always) fantastic guitar tones produced by Helge Engelke - although the rest of the band are right on top form too. As good (if not better) as their first two albums!

A very melodic affair - very good songs and performances.

oK , but far from the quality of the first albums and obviously far far from the FAIR WARNING magic !
The guitar by Mr ENGELKE are HONEY for my metal ears as usual(one more * for him) !

Great AOR album..nice vocals and melodies..sounds a little bit like Pink Cream 69. My favorites are: I don't want to wait, Tell me how it feels, The Vow.
