The coming about of this band is a strange story. In 2006, two acts from two different countries – Dreamtone from Turkey and Iris Mavraki from Greece – amalgamated into Neverland. Not so obvious, if you ask me, and certainly not for Iris Mavraki, who had a totally different background than the guys of Dreamtone, for whom metal was something like their ‘plat du jour’.
The co-operation between the two acts went better than originally thought and with the help of Iris’s son, major guests were invited, such as Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian), Tom Englund (Evergrey), Mike Baker and Gary Wehrkamp (Shadow Gallery), as well as the Philharmonic Istanbul Orchestra.
“Reversing Time” is a special album that needs several spins to get into the material, but in the end the combination of Iris Mavraki’s high-pitched, almost operatic vocals and Dreamtone’s power/progressive metal approach seems to work. As a matter of fact, there’s not much to complain about: the quality of the songs is high and the performances of all musicians involved is also quite impressive. Count to that a crystal-clear production and attractive fantasy cover artwork and all pieces of the puzzle are present to make this debut album noticed among the flood of releases. Check it out! (
