AOR & melodic (hard) rock

Strange how things can turn out for a musician. We didn’t hear from the man in question for quite some time and now he shows up on different releases all around the same time. The one I’m speaking of is German vocalist Michael Bormann, mainly known from Jaded Heart, but apart from them you might possibly know him from other acts such as Bonfire, J.R. Blackmore, Zeno, The Sygnet and/or Charade.
The recordings for the second Rain album started at Michael’s own studio in Duisburg in February of last year. Based on Michael’s ideas, all of the new songs came together in his studio and in two weeks time a total of twelve songs were recorded. The result is called “Stronger” and indeed, the outcome is a stronger album than the debut album “House Of Dreams”, which was released by Kivel Records in 2002.
What you get here with “Stronger” is an album that could easily have been another Jaded Heart album. Modern songs like opener “Do You Like It” and “Get Over It” take turns with pop rock songs like “Crazy”, “Deserve It”, “Flesh & Blood” and “Love Is By Your Side”, heavier tracks like “Insobriety” and “Let Me Be Your Favourite” and power ballads like “I’d Die For You”, “The Other Side” and album closer “Lovesong”. In short: a varied album filled with good songs, among which anyone can easily find some favourites. (CL)

I just go this cd, and I must say it's a very good cd, excellent production from Michael, although it's missing something ? Maybe it's because as others have said his solo cd is a bit better. The songs are short and sweet, Michael as usual sounds great, so if your a fan of Michaels and Jaded Heart stuff then you will like this release.

A pretty good album, but certainly not nearly as good as MB's solo effort. Too many pop songs and not enough rockers here: the best tracks are 'Do you like it' and 'Get over it'. When they let rip they stand out amongst the hard rock crowd, but when they turn it down then they are mediocre. As I said, MB's new solo album is pure class and I'd suggest that over this one if a choice had to be made.

Very strong album but i prefer his work on his solo album and the Zeno cd but this is still another great album to feature Michael Bormann .

Not a fan of this release - totally enjoyed their debut. This was ok for me - songs just didn't do it for me - would've love to see more of a melodic feel. Production was good.

mmmm.....Mr. Bormann again, so great as usual. But his new solo release is the best of his latest releases this year/month.
