Nowadays very often ridiculous high prices are paid on eBay to get hold of a (more or less shabby) copy of a so-called classic album. Can you believe someone bid up to $ 150.00 for this one-off album from Swiss born vocalist Alexa Anastasia?
Apart from her sultry looks, it was the name of Paul Sabu that attracted my attention when I first bought this album (originally released by Savage) in 1989. If you like Sabu’s body of work (and more specific his Only Child period), then you will surely like this “Alexa” album as much. All ten tracks are easy on the ear and were recorded with the help of the musicians that then were band members of Only Child. Alexa is the owner of a strong voice and can easily be called a better version of Lee Aaron. Listening back to her album 16 years after its original release proves that the songs have easily stood the test of time. Indeed, it’s still a pleasure to listen to tracks such as “Wanderlust”, “Cool Wind”, “Heart To Heart” and “Spooky”.
Released without bonus tracks (I miss the two songs that were featured on the soundtrack of the horror movie“To Die For” ), but digitally remastered, this is a MTM Classix re-issue I can safely recommend to anyone who cares for female rock. BTW, does anyone out there know where Alexa is hiding? I’d like to pay her a visit… (CL)

Hi Rafo Phoenix,

Here is for you this great song:
ALEXA ANASTASIA - For You I'd Die ( Soundtrack "To Die For" 1989 )
This song is from the erotic vampire ''classic'' movie soundtrack ''TO DIE FOR''.
ALEXA ANASTASIA sings on this song and it is fantastic female fronted AOR/Melodic Rock like her first and only album ( produced by Paul Sabu ).
I think that this song (and the other song from Alexa "Where Are You" on the Soundtrack) are very difficult to find, i'd searched for a long time. Maybe that's the reason why MTM didn't' put these tracks as bonus on the rerelease from ALEXA ?

Great stuff! I can finally archive my old LP. Now if someone would do us a favour and re-release the Witness CD which even better than this.

Don't know why this one deserves a special rerelease ! It's surely not bad, but also far from outstanding.
Decent AOR, nothin more, nothing less.

This is a lot better than i remember , ok you can instantly tell that Paul Sabu is involved in it but that doesn't stop it being a very good album . Nice work on the remastering as Jez says , all in all a fine female fronted hard rock album ( oh dear i can hear Gloobey groaning from here )

I Have always liked this album alot, but it always struck me as a bit of an Only Child leftovers album (although Ms. Anastasia did have a hand in writing some of thes material) and was certainly not as good as that brilliant album. There is enough quality on show here though to satisfy most, with some excellent, memorable material on show. Round that off with a Great vocal performance from Alexa aswell as a very tight band backing her up and you have a pretty darned good album.
The remastering on this is also Very Good, and beefs up the slightly thin sounding original. No bonuses & as mentioned - the 'To Die For' tracks would have been a nice addition. Definately worth checking out, now that you won't have to pay sill money for it!!!.

Yes Scribbly and I have been waiting here all alone. What's that all about?
Oh yeas I rated my album 5 the same as you, I didn't want to appear to full of myself after all ;)

I know where she is.. I have been in touch with her this week, and have a big interview planned with her in the next few days.
