With “Somewhere Into Nowhere”, German band S.I.N. released a really good debut album through MTM Music in September of 2003. Later that year they were chosen as ‘MTM Newcomer of The Year’, but despite that honour they decided not to go on with Mario Lehman’s MTM Music and switched to Georg Siegl’s Metal Heaven instead.
S.I.N.’s new album is called “Equilibrium” and the title refers to the balance the band members have found since they started some three years ago. But that’s not all, because “Equilibrium” also refers to the balance among the new songs. “Somewhere Into Nowhere” was good, but the new material is even better. The sound has developed into a much heavier direction, without losing the sense of melody. No wonder this new album is getting released through Metal Heaven (and not AOR Heaven, for that matter!). Opener “Nail It To The Wall” immediately sets the (heavy) tone for the rest of the album, with further highlights such as “It’s Forever” (featuring additional lead vocals by Michael Voss of Casanova and Silver), “Walk Away” (a real beauty of a ballad), “Fight For My Life” (about what a boxer feels before starting the fight) and “The Reason” (featuring a guitar solo by Wicked Sensation’s Michael Klein). Conclusion: an album full of mature compositions, performed in a heavy yet melodic way, characterized by the high-pitched vocals from British vocalist Marks and the solid guitars of Andler and Frank. Hats off to drummer Alex Hlousek as well and let’s not forget the guest appearance of Ursula ‘Ouzo’ Raschke, who has played the bass on half of the tracks (3, 4, 6, 8 & 10). A bright future is waiting around the corner for these guys. By the way, with Marc Witteborg they have just added a new lead guitarist to their ranks. This was necessary because Wolfgang Frank decided not to play the guitar anymore. From now on he will concentrate on playing the bass only and I’m sure he will be the perfect ‘rhythm’ partner for Alex Hlousek. I’ll bet their third album will be a killer! (CL)

AOR Ive (on 22/10/05)

I expected a little bit more from this album and maybe it's because I listened to this one after I listened to Allen / Lande , but it just didn't do much to me . The songs are their own I can describe as good melodic hardrock , but the true magic is never there . Maybe I should listen to it some more like Wolf did , but for now I can only give it 4 stars .

Played this once , hated it , played it again on the mp3 player loved it , gave it another go just to make sure and to decide what i'd missed on the first run through and you know what third play , it was even better . Some great hard rock ala Pink Cream 69 / Evidence One / and Frontline which gets better the more you play it ( must have been asleep first time i played it ) , full of superb harmonies and killer songs . reccomended
