AOR & melodic (hard) rock

Biss, the German band built around guitar hero Ralf Heyne, can’t keep lead vocalists for longer than one album. “Biss” featured ex-Victory shouter Fernando Garcia, the follow-up “Joker In The Deck” featured ex-Jaded Heart vocalist Michael Bormann and now it’s time to introduce you to number 3: ex-Krokus howler Marc Storace. The consequence is that it’s becoming more and more difficult for the band to sound original. Although the new album is OK, I can’t help thinking of Krokus when listening to it. After all Storace’s voice sounds so recognizable that he’s probably leaving his mark on the material far more than he’s willing to do. Anyway, among the tracks that give me most satisfaction are “Pyromania” (which has nothing to do with Def Leppard), “Raise The Hammer” and “Fire In The Night”. Good old heavy rock without frills is what you can expect from these guys, which is perfect when you need to let of some steam… (CL)

This is by far the best album Biss have released untill now . It isn't one of the best albums of 2005 , but if you like melodic hardrock with great vocals and some power then you will dig this release .

WOLF 359 (on 2/07/05)

A really good hard rock album from Biss , third singer to the plate Marc Storace does a fantastic job along with Gotthard it would seem that hard rock is trying to make an effort . Now to dig out my old Krokus records .

Surprisely good album, it reminds me a bit on the early days of Saxon. The album has also a strong production and the songs are catchy.

GlenRavine (on 27/05/05)

Way better than their previous - alot more harder and better production.

AORPOMPY (on 13/05/05)

Not a bad effort at all, certainly if you love mr. Storace's voice.
He's a bit shouting, his usual style, but if you can live with that, this is a nice record.
Not very original, a bit hardrock by numbers and way too short in these CD times !
That costs them a higher rating too !
Decent, but not essential.

I'm listening to Krokus since 1980. I think on Krokus records Marc Storcae screams more than on this record which has more melodies which he really sings (IMO). By the way Storace is still with Krokus :-) and Raise the Hammer is a cover of the ICON song. I like this record a lot.
