First of all, this is a metal, and not a hard rock album. But I won't quibble! Overall, certainly not a bad album, but not as powerful as I had expected with James Rivera at the mike. Still, there is a lot of quality material on offer, and hopefully this will propel the band to make a full-blown album with new songs. The major complaint is that the originals are excellent, so why re-record them? Whatever the reason, I am very happy that they are back.

Not impressed I am more depressed. Chaingang woman is one of my fave tracks from old school Malice. Mostly because of the character vocals and the distinct sound. Rivera is good but not for Malice i'm afraid. Too rough around the edges to give the old tunes a new spark.Look, some older bands do quite well with new singers. Some are just not the right fit, like Malice and others like Great White who hired XYZ singer but drowns like Malice did.Call your old singer up and tell him to stop flipping burgers and cutting lawns and put the sound back together. Now redo this entire CD with James Neal fronting it and send Rivera to Yngwie, Iced Earth or even Priest.

didn't like this, rather go for the original

I loved Malice back in the day. Hard to take these classics and put a different singer on 'em, but James Rivera does a good job here on the old stuff and the new tracks bristle. Worth a spin for us died-in-the-wool old school metalheads!
