Shadow Gallery mourns loss of singer

It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Shadow Gallery vocalist, Michael A. Baker. Mike, 45 years old, suffered a heart attack, Wednesday afternoon, October 29th, 2008. Mike was a founding member of Shadow Gallery and for the past 16 years helped shape the sound of the band with his magical voice. Additionally, he made many appearances on rock records around the world. Those who knew him best were moved by his gentle spirit, sincere kindness, fun nature and passion for both music and sports. He was a warrior in the studio, a true professional. Mike was our friend, our singer and our brother. We loved him and will miss him enormously, but he will always be remembered in our hearts and through his music.

Frontiers Records update

JIMI JAMISON
Jimi Jamison has recently completed a new video clip for “When Rock Was King”, the track written looking back at the rocking 80s when everybody had ‘big dreams’, ‘big hair’ and ‘big visions’. Joining Jimi on this loving tribute are some of his greatest contemporaries: Don Barnes of .38 Special, Dave Bickler (Survivor's original lead singer), Joe Lynn Turner of Rainbow, Mickey Thomas of Starship, Mike Reno of Loverboy and Jim Peterik. Enjoy the videoclip at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2R0ruyk_9A or on http://www.myspace/.com/frontiersrecords

MAGNUS KARLSSON
Swedish axeman Magnus Karlsson has recently posted this letter on his website: “I thought it was time for a little update. We have two more shows with Primal Fear next weekend before we start the recording of our new album, “Monsters Of Mora”. The tour with Primal Fear has been a blast! I can’t imagine a better and more fun band to be in. I really enjoyed meeting all great bands and also that I got the chance to meet some of you guys to have a chat and a drink or two. We are almost done with the songwriting for the Primal fear album and I will go to Germany to record my stuff in December. The songs came out fantastic and I’m very excited to be a part of this album. Expect a release in May 2009. Check out http://www.primalfear.de for more updates about the recording. I will also start writing on Allen/Lande III and hopefully I will have it done in time for a release next year. Thanks everyone for your kind messages and e-mails. I read them all and try to answer as often as I can, but sometimes there’s not time enough. I’m really sorry for that, but if I would spend more time on MySpace than I already do, there wouldn’t be any more time for guitar shredding. Well, I hope you are all enjoying life … and if you don’t , just put on Bob Catley’s ‘Immortal’ and everything will feel better!”

PLACE VENDOME
This week producer Dennis Ward is finishing the drum recording sessions with his Pink Cream 69’s bandmate Kosta Zafiriou for the forthcoming Place Vendome album, to be entitled “Streets Ff Fire”. Mix and mastering are scheduled for the first 3 weeks of November. During November Michael Kiske will gather with the other band members in Stuttgart, Germany to shoot a video clip for the song “My Guardian Angel”. This event will mark Kiske’s ‘visual return’ after several years of self-imposed exile.

DANGER DANGER
Following the successful appearance at the Firefest in Notthingham, England last Sunday, DD are now heading back to the studio to finish the recording sessions of their highly anticipated new studio album, expected for release in early 2009. Singer Ted Poley is hard at work putting his vocals on the tracks recorded and said that the new DD CD is coming out really great. He thinks the fans will like it a lot.

White Lion – Bang Your Head Festival 2005

Frontiers Records are pleased to announce the release of White Lion’s “Bang Your Head Festival 2005” DVD on December 5, 2008.

White Lion left their musical mark in the late 80s with a series of highly acclaimed albums, including “Mane Attraction”, “Big Game” and the millionseller “Pride” which spawned such hits as “Wait” and “When The Children Cry”. The band was also recognized for its signature album tracks that transcended socio-political themes such as “Lady Of The Valley”, “Cry For Freedom”, “Lights N Thunder” and “Warsong”.

White Lion originally disbanded in 1991 and it wasn’t until 2005 when singer Mike Tramp decided to handpick a handful of musicians (including Jamie Law on guitar, Troy Patrick Farrell on drums, Henning Wanner on keyboards and Claus Langeskov on bass) to carry again the flag of White Lion in a long European tour that culminated in a successful apparition at the Bang Your Head Festival. In Tramp’s own words: “This concert was the definitive turning point and event that finally convinced me that it was worth going on with the next chapter of White Lion and that rock fans had not forgotten and still appreciated the music of White Lion”.

And indeed, this DVD reflects the magic of an unforgettable night with amazing renditions of all the band’s hits and signature songs. A testament of what was and a statement for the future who brought the successful studio return album “Return Of The Pride” released in March 2008.

DVD contents:
Bang Your Head Festival 2005 concert: Lights And Thunder; Hungry; Lonely Nights; Broken Heart; Fight To Survive; Little Fighter; Living On The Edge; Tell Me; Wait; Radar Love.
Full length interview (Mike Tramp)
Slide show (Lady Of The Valley)
Lights and Thunder across the USA = live performances of songs from the USA tour: Easter Eggs; Hungry; It's Over (live in the USA)

Richie Kotzen – Bootlegged In Brazil

Frontiers Records are pleased to announce the European release of Richie Kotzen’s first ever live DVD, “Bootlegged In Brazil”, on December 5, 2008.

The DVD reflects a stellar performance from his South American tour in 2007 and includes some real classic tracks from the Kotzen repertoire: from the rhythmic labours of “A Love Divine” through “Go Faster” (off the last studio album “Return Of The Mother Head’s Family Reunion”) and the great “Doin’ What The Devil Says To Do”.

Richie Kotzen’s sound is influenced from such bands as Bad Company, Free, early Van Halen and Cream. They are the inspiration for his songs, but having deep Philly roots, Kotzen tends to combine rock with the Motown influences he heard as a kid offering the fans a soulful and timeless approach to the music.

This live performance features Kotzen’s touring band with Johnny Griparich on bass and Dan Potruch on drums. Stay tuned for more live dates from Richie in Europe in 2009 and in the meantime enjoy this great talent in your sitting room with this riveting DVD!

“This DVD marks a new era creatively for Tesla because we put it all together ourselves, capturing the band's concert and life on the road,” says lead guitarist Frank Hannon. “Nowadays, we are more involved in every aspect of our music career than ever before. We are very excited about the creative results and it really shows in the new DVD.”

Robert Berry – The Dividing Line

Frontiers Records are excited to announce the beginning of the co-operation with multi-talented artist Robert Berry with the release of his brand-new solo album, “The Dividing Line”, on December 5, 2008.

Robert’s abilities came into prominence in 1988, when he teamed with Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer (of ELP fame) and formed the band 3, releasing the album “To The Power of Three” for Geffen Records. He was however one of the most well-known musical talents of the San Francisco area and was previously involved with the band Hush and later with another 80s super group GTR. Together with former Yes guitarist Steve Howe (taking the place of none other than ex-Genesis, Steve Hackett) he wrote and recorded several tracks which sadly have never been officially released by the band which split before the recording of the second album (One of those songs appears for the first time on this new album).

During the 90s Berry kept busy composing, arranging and performing either as a solo artist (he has released 3 solo albums, with “Pilgrimage To A Point” particularly being considered as a true melodic progrock masterpiece of its era) or as a producer-session player. He also toured for years with the band Ambrosia, where he took the place of another rock giant, David Pack. In 2008 his band Alliance (together with members of Boston, Sammy Hagar and Night Ranger) released their critically acclaimed 3rd album, “Road To Heaven”. “There is a difference between the music I create on my own and the music that I do with Alliance”, explains Robert. “The Alliance lyric is mostly about life and relationships. And the music is classic American rock. But my solo efforts are based more on my years spent in Europe. They have a more intricate structure and production.”

An award winning producer and multi-instrumentalist, Robert Berry has always displayed an uncanny knack for great melodies and exquisite playing either in the classic progressive rock style or in a more melodic rock oriented musical environment.

“It has been some time since I put my self out to the public with a solo effort”, continues Robert, “I have grown, I have matured musically and lyrically. I am so honored for the chance to do what I love and share it with the listeners”. Recorded during the year 2008, “The Dividing Line” stylistically leans towards timeless melodic rock, in the vein of what Robert has been playing and composing for 3 and GTR. “I wrote this note to myself as to what I would like this album to be”, tells Berry, “The note was ‘music with vision, power, intensity, integrity and hope. About healing from the inside out. ‘The Dividing Line’. ”The Dividing Line” based on my inner hope that I remain the person I have set out to be. Also musically this album is based on the style I love most. And as I listen back, that is exactly how it came out”.

The song themes deal with life, love and human relationships and show the most personal side of Robert Berry’s artistry and vision. All in all an exciting and revealing release which should not be missed by any serious Rock Music fan.

Michael Voss to produce solo album project by Paul Shortino

Producer Michael Voss has signed on with AOR Heaven to produce the forthcoming album by veteran rocker Paul Shortino.

Paul Shortino’s musical career includes Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot, The Cutt and portraying “Duke Fame” in the infamous cult classic movie hit, “This Is Spinal Tap”. Paul has toured the world extensively throughout his career, always finding great success with his German fans. Going forward, Paul opted to develop projects on his own, often mixing it up with a veritable hard rock ‘who’s who’ of virtuoso players. Venturing into a diverse array of endeavors suited Shortino and it’s the career model he’s stayed with up to the present. “The new project with Michael stems from my inclusion on the upcoming album release Voices Of Rock. Georg Siegl of AOR Heaven offered me a solo deal. I knew I had to jump on board. I am excited to be working with Michael and AOR Heaven”, said Shortino. The album will be released in 2009.

Ecliptica - Impetus

Frontiers Records are pleased to launch the release of Ecliptica’s debut album, “Impetus”, on December 5, 2008.

Ecliptica is a heavy metal band from Austria, founded by guitarist Markus Winkler in 2005. He put together a line-up with six members in total, together with the other guitar player Bernie Scholz, Thomas Tieber and Elisabeth Fangmeyer on vocals, plus Florian Thür and Roman Klomfar on bass and drums respectively.

Ecliptica soon started to write songs and in April 2007 released their critically acclaimed first EP, “The Awakening”, in front of 500 people at Planet Music Vienna. During the promotion for the EP, Ecliptica won the Metal Battle Austria 2007 contest and played a live set at the world famous Wacken Open Air in Germany, not forgetting that they have also landed a support slot for the major US progmetal gods Symphony X.

In January 2008 the band entered the Hinterhof Studios in Vienna to record their first full-length album, “Impetus”, which is now being released on the international markets by Frontiers Records. The word “Impetus” stands for power, speed and energy just like the sound of these 10 songs delivered on the album. Straight through without orchestral arrangements Ecliptica reduced their songs to a rough and powerful but still melodic feel.

The music of Ecliptica is defined in their musical roots: blending traditional heavy metal of the 80s with intricate rhythms and progressive elements from all decades. The songwriting however is very personal and original, thus making them instantly recognizable thanks to the use of two vocalists and to the classical music elements that are incorporated in their songs. Theatrical elements and an eclectic songwriting complete the picture of a very gifted band that is now ready to be unleashed.
