Rock For Japan

On March 11, 2011 one of the biggest natural disasters hit the country of our close friends in Japan. The earthquake, the tsunami and the nuclear devastation and the resulting inapprehensible pictures on TV left us in sadness and depression and caused a feeling that something needed to be done to help.

The original idea by the label AOR Heaven simply was to release a melodic rock/hard rock charity album for Japan and to donate all profit of the sales income of this CD to the Red Cross in Japan. An e-mail was sent to some bands in order to find out if any of them would be interested in participating in this project. From this point on, the idea started to move and caused massive feedback. Within the first 24 hours after this message had been sent, more than 20 highly profiled bands and artists from all over the world already had offered to take part by contributing previously unreleased material each.

Since many of these bands have got a long history which is heavily connected to the Japanese country and its loyal friends for these special kinds of musical styles, this participation means a lot for them. The songs you can hear on this record come deeply from their hearts and even though this seems to be just a small thing that can be done, all these little pieces – and this also includes the income of this project and the donations as a result of it – will be one part of an over-all big puzzle that may help in the end.

WhoCares: Ian Gillan, Tommy Iommi & friends

Hamburg based earMUSIC, the international pop/rock label of entertainment Group Edel, is proud to announce the release of the debut CD single by WhoCares on May 9, 2011.

All rock fans surfing the internet are already aware of the many rumours and semi-official news about this music project – one that simply seemed “too exciting to be true”. What hides behind this new band name is in fact the renewed musical union between legendary Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan, with none other than Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, the undisputed master of heavy guitar riffs. The duo has recorded two brand-new songs with the intent to support the rebuilding of a music school in Gyumri, Armenia. Both Gillan and Iommi have spent a lot of time in Armenia, fallen in love with the country and the people and have dedicated a lot of work to a nation still shocked after the earthquake that struck Armenia on December 7, 1988 at 11:41 am. The collaboration of Gillan and Iommi, who have worked together before on the Sabbath album “Born Again”, is in itself incredible news for all rock and metal fans and will be the best of surprises to get to know who is completing the band: none other than Jon Lord on keyboards (“Mr. Hammond”, partner with Gillan on all the Deep Purple classics), Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain, ex-Metallica bass player Jason Newsted and HIM guitar player Mikko Lindström are also featured on the two new songs. There is no doubt that this is the biggest ever supergroup to release new material in 2011.

WhoCares will release the 2 new songs on digital download and limited edition CD single on May 9, 2011: “Out Of My Mind” (an epic hard rock classic, destined to remain in time as a hard rock milestone) and “Holy Water”. The CD single will also contain the videoclip of “Out Of My Mind” and a 40-minute documentary that shows Gillan’s and Iommi’s involvement with the Armenia cause over the years. Ian Gillan said: “The idea came as Tony and I flew back from Yerevan together after being inspired by the enthusiasm of everyone there to get this thing done. It was brilliant working with Tony again after all these years; he makes life easy for a singer. The other guys need no introduction, do they?” Tony Iommi added: “Some twenty years ago when the call came, I thought, well at least I’ve helped, but it was going to Armenia and seeing the actual devastation caused by the earthquake that really made me realize that funds were still needed. Despite all the money that was raised last time, here was a music school doing their best, forgotten, in basic tin sheds. After the warmth and honour bestowed upon us during our visit, we just had to help make a difference and get the school re-built. And what better way than to hook up with some of rock’s greatest players and my old mate Ian, both an honour and a pleasure.”

Journey to come back with their new album "Eclipse"

Frontiers Records are pleased to announce the release of Journey’s forthcoming studio album, “Eclipse”, in Europe on May 27, 2011.

“Eclipse” is Journey’s fifteenth studio album and shows the band at the peak of their creative juices, truly regenerated after the blistering success of their last studio album, “Revelation”.

Following the release of “Eclipse”, Journey will launch the “Eclipse Tour”, which will kick off with a 7 dates arena tour in the UK/Eire, together with Styx and Foreigner and will then hit Germany, Switzerland, Benelux, Scandinavia, France and – for the first time ever – Italy.

“I’m in love with this record, which I haven’t said about one of our albums for a long time,” says founding member and lead guitarist, Neal Schon. “It’s a rock record and it sounds amazing.” Commenting on the upcoming tour, Schon continued: “We’ve got a lot of hits to play and there’s plenty of time to do some new stuff too, so we’re gonna mix it up. We haven’t toured with Foreigner for over 10 years, so we’re really looking forward to this run.”

In an interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal, keyboardist Jonathan Cain recently described “Eclipse” as ‘a concept record with some spiritual themes to it … pretty tough, hard hitting stuff.’ Jonathan continued: “We just felt like it was time to send a message to the world about how we feel about life in general.”

The new album release will be preceded by the digital release of the single “City Of Hope” on April 4.

Journey toured the world for two years in support of their 2008 release, “Revelation”. More than a million fans attended the shows and welcomed new lead singer Arnel Pineda. Completing the Journey line-up are Schon (guitars, backing vocals), Cain (keyboards, backing vocals), Ross Valory (bass, backing vocals) and Deen Castronovo (drums, percussion, backing vocals). “Revelation” marked the band’s biggest first week’s sales in more than a decade, debuting at # 5 on the Billboard 200 in June 2008 and with chart entries in the UK, Sweden, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. “Revelation” earned the band their 11th platinum album certification to date, leading The New York Times to declare that ‘the band … feels alive’.

Since their formation in 1973, Journey has earned 19 top 40 singles and 25 gold and platinum albums in the US. The band’s “Greatest Hits” album is certified 15 times platinum, bringing Journey into the elite club of diamond certified album holders. The group also received a star on Hollywood’s “Walk Of Fame” in 2005.

Daedalus - Motherland

Daedalus are proud to announce that their third album, “Motherland”, will be released on May 2, 2011. It contains 11 songs pervaded with strength, melody and contemplation. NeraNature – Foresting Wounds

Nera, vocalist of Polish metal band Darzamat, reveals new details on her forthcoming debut solo album, “Foresting Wounds”, which will be released under the moniker NeraNature by Metal Mind Productions on May 9. Earlier, in April, a radio single, entitled “Shattered”, will be released to promote the album, along with the cover song “The World Is Not Enough” from the repertoire of Garbage.

NeraNature was founded by Nera in 2009. The project appeared as a space where the air is filled with matters lingering in her head, a bit more intimate, private and sometimes bizarre and freakish. “I've been waiting for a long time for the right place and time to find an outlet for my personal thoughts and beliefs. This is the time and place”, explains Nera.

The name of the band is a combination of two words: Nera, the nickname of the vocalist, and Nature, referring to a reflection on a deep connection with the environment. It can also be interpreted as the nature of Nera – a diversity of views reflected in the songs. The feminine character of lyrics imbued with the feminist outlook on life constitutes one of the most significant elements of the projects, touching upon such issues as man’s detachment from nature and running away from himself/herself.
