Frontiers Records sign Warrant

Frontiers Records are proud to announce the signing of Warrant, one of the most popular and successful American hard rock bands to come out of the Los Angeles musical scene. The band is currently in the studio recording a brand-new album under the direction of Keith Olsen (Scorpions, Whitesnake and Night Ranger). The album, tentatively titled “Rockaholic”, is scheduled for a May 2011 worldwide release.

Jerry Dixon commented: “The last few years have been like holding in a big secret from the world and now we get to share it. I really think we captured a perfect mix of the past and present on this record. Each song has its own vibe that’s going to take people on a kick-ass Warrant rollercoaster ride. To help achieve an old school sound mixed with the flair of today, we called on the legendary Keith Olsen to do the production. There’s enough 80s influence on songs like ‘Tears In The City’ & ‘Sex Ain’t Love’ to keep the die-hard Warrant fans rocking while introducing them to new material.”

Warrant has sold over 8 million records worldwide. The band first came into the spotlight with their debut multiplatinum album “Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich”, which included the smash hit single “Heaven”. The band continued its success in the 90s with the multiplatinum album “Cherry Pie” and the gold album “Dog Eat Dog”, both albums providing more hit singles in the Billboard Top 30. “Rockaholic” is sure to add more Billboard action for the band. With singer Robert Mason on lead vocals and original band members Erik Turner and Joey Allen on guitars, Jerry Dixon on bass and Steven Sweet on drums, Warrant is ready to spread the “Rockaholic” addiction to the world.

Shadowman – Watching Over You

It has been seven years since the debut album by Shadowman was released (“Land Of The Living”). The album was warmly received by all who had a penchant for good old British melodic hard rock. As you would expect, Shadowman had elements of both Heartland and FM deeply embedded in its grooves, yet it was highly original and was often touted as the best British melodic release of 2004.

Two years later, in 2006, the eagerly awaited follow-up “Different Angles” became an important album for this quartet that also included both Harry James and Chris Childs of Thunder. “Ghost In The Mirror”, the band’s third release from 2008, was an extension of the band’s already established sound, with some clever twists on the way.

Three albums under their belt and how can the band hone that sound into something that little bit more special? Enter “Watching Over You”, a brand-new release for 2011. These boys just mature nicely as time passes and new songs like “Renegades”, “Waiting For A Miracle” and “Are You Ready” will set pulses racing. Once again Tommy Hansen is at the mixing desk, his capabilities need no introduction. Expect the new album throug Escape Music in April.

Within Temptation guitarist reveals details about his solo album

“For All We Know”, the new project led by Ruud Jolie from Within Temptation, has just set the release date for their self-titled album on April 25, 2011.

Jolie has recorded a lot of songs and albums with other artists, but the urge to write and record his own material has always been present. So for the last 4 years he has been working on this music both when he was on the road with various bands (Within Temptation, Agua de Annique, Damian Wilson Band, Maiden uniteD, etc.) and in his own studio. He considers himself very fortunate to be able to work with some of the greatest musicians and people imaginable on this project.

“For All We Know”, written and produced by Ruud himself, contains 12 original songs that range from very atmospheric and dreamily acoustic to heavy and pounding progressive metal tracks.

Guest musicians :
Daniel Gildenlöw (Pain Of Salvation): vocals on “Keep Breathing”
Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation): vocals on “Keep Breathing”
Damian Wilson (Threshold, DWB, Star One, Ayreon, Maiden uniteD): backing vocals, vocals on “Keep Breathing”
Ruud Houweling (Cloudmachine): vocals on “Keep Breathing”
Anke Derks: vocals on “Keep Breathing”
Tom Sikkers (Daybroke): vocals on “Keep Breathing”
John Wesley (Porcupine Tree): lead guitar on “I Lost Myself Today”
Richie Faulkner (Lauren Harris Band): lead guitar on “Busy Being Somebody Else”
Camilla van der Kooij: violin

The band has launched an album video teaser on the following location :

Firefest 2010: venue change (Friday, October 21)

The Friday night show featuring Jimi Jamison, Terry Brock and Houston has now been moved to the same venue as the other two days: the main room at Rock City in Nottingham.

It was only earlier this week that we’d announced that the first day of our three day marathon at Trent University had sold out, prompting calls from people who didn’t have tickets to move the show to a bigger venue. However, this decision was taken out of our hands later in the week when we were told by the people at Trent Uni that plans were afoot to demolish the building in summer to make way for a new Students Union building, one that unfortunately wouldn’t be finished in time for the show.

Thankfully Dave Herron and the good people at Rock City have made their main room available subject to the usual 10 p.m. curfew so that it doesn’t affect their usual activities, which of course necessitates an earlier start than was previously planned. This means that not only have Rock City saved us the almost impossible task of finding a suitable venue in the centre of Nottingham, but also that we now have several hundred more £25 tickets available for those that missed out. Details of the new door opening and stage times will be published when available.

The demand for early bird tickets for Saturday and Sunday 22nd & 23rd October has far outstripped that of previous years, the £99 weekend tickets selling way over the 300 that we intended to let go at the special price. With less than four weeks gone since the initial Firefest announcement and the weekend almost 50% sold, we’re reluctant to take away the special offer so soon, so we’ll be keeping the offer available for one more week only, the last day being Saturday 26th February. After this date the tickets will revert to £55 per day. Check out http://www.thefirefest.com for details.

Nazareth – Big Dogz

Hamburg based earMUSIC, the international pop/rock label of entertainment Group Edel, is proud to announce the renewal of the relationship with Scottish legendary rockers Nazareth. The first release, to be part of the renewed deal, will be the awaited new studio album, “Big Dogz”, to hit the stores on April 18, 2011. Nazareth and earMUSIC/Edel joined forces in 2007 for the release of Nazareth’s latest studio album “The Newz”, which was praised all over the world for its songwriting quality and fresh sound. “Big Dogz” was recorded in Prague and mixed in Basel. Produced by guitar player Jimmy Murrison and young Swiss sound wizard Yann Rouiller, the album shows a challenging approach to production. In contrast with rock music’s current tendency to be clean and overproduced in order to be perfect and easily consumed, Nazareth’s album focuses on capturing the dangerous and challenging edge that rock music should have, too often lost in the chase of perfection. With 60 million albums sold throughout a 40-year glorious career, Nazareth have invested all of their time in finding the original sound and the spirit of the 70s, when rock bands were expressing their values and ideas only through an instrument and an amp in front of a microphone. There are nearly no overdubs or multiple takes, no vocal lines or solos adjusted through a computer. The new Nazareth album is what the band really is: 4 men who live rock music, recording together in the same room at the same time, showing what they really are, and what they really want. One of the purest diamonds of rock music, “Big Dogz” will surely join albums like “No Mean City” and “Hair Of The Dog” in the most representative episodes of a glorious career.

Founder member Pete Agnew says: “They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but having recorded the new Nazareth album ‘Big Dogz’, I don't agree. We’ve got some tasty bones here! Our friends at earMUSIC offered us the opportunity to mark some new territory and the ‘Nazhounds’ are delighted to be back among their pack. We’re straining at the leash to tour this puppy. We reckon it’s bitchin’! So get ready, because in 2011 the Big Dogz are going to howl!”

“Big Dogz” will be released on LP, CD and a Deluxe Edition with an acoustic session recorded in 2000 never released before. Nazareth will tour Europe (and the rest of the world) as in their best tradition. Visit the band’s website, http://www.nazarethdirect.co.uk , to discover all details.

Firefest Friday tickets sold out (already)

Due to unprecedented demand this year the show on Friday, October 21, at Trent University, Nottingham, featuring Jimi Jamison, Terry Brock and Houston, has now sold out already. We’ve approached the venue with regard to removing all non-essential equipment from the main room in an effort to increase the capacity by a few more, but until we come to an agreement there will be no more tickets on sale. If we find ourselves in a position where we’re able to increase the capacity from the present 600 we’ll inform you immediately through http://www.thefirefest.com , http://www.rocktopia.co.uk , and through Facebook of the number of extra tickets we’re allowed to sell. Tickets for Saturday and Sunday at Rock City continue to sell extremely well and we’re extremely grateful for your continued support.

Images Of Eden - Rebuilding The Ruins

Possibly one of the best known purveyors of the progmetal genre is Baltimore based group Images Of Eden. Much to the elation of the band's fans as well as followers of the music trend, Images Of Eden will be releasing their third album “Rebuilding The Ruins” on March 1, 2011.

Known for their own unique breed of universal, uplifting progressive metal, Images Of Eden is a passion-based, melodic metal band originating from the Baltimore, MD/York, PA-USA region. IOE combines a very dynamic sound with a wide range of metal/hard rock styles, ranging anywhere from progressive rock to power metal. They combine thought-provoking, inspirational lyrics, stellar musicianship with complex compositions and an honest and powerful vocal delivery, keeping the technical and unpredictable aspect of progmetal, but with very accessible hooks and melodies. Images Of Eden is unique in that each CD release is a chapter of a story, portraying an ongoing journey through life, with each release picking up where the previous one has left off.

Images Of Eden's “Rebuilding The Ruins”, is a 74-minute concept CD, mastered by Grammy-nominated producer Eric Zimmermann (Fates Warning, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Buckcherry, Suicidal Tendencies, etc.) who adds top-notch production to the release. The title track was also selected by an indie film company to be used as a soundtrack for an upcoming short film to debut at Cannes/Tribeca Film Festivals later next year.

Inspired by bands such as Iron Maiden, Queensrÿche, Fates Warning, Symphony X, as well as other progressive metal bands, Images Of Eden's songwriting walks the line between accessibility and unpredictability, thus appealing to more than just a progmetal audience. “I would say that most of my influences are more progmetal or old school British metal rather than new”, says vocalist, guitarist & songwriter Gordon Tittsworth. “However, I actually have some old thrash influences as well. They range from Fates Warning (all, but more specifically the John Arch era), Queensrÿche, Badlands, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Dream Theater, Type O Negative to Slayer, Running Wild, Motörhead and various European metal, among many others. I'm sure you can imagine that my writing should be a bit heavier than it is, but the influences of the rest of the band are more on the progrock side - bands like Rush, Kansas, ELP, Genesis, Marillion, Porcupine Tree, etc. These influences added more dimension and melody to an initial heavier sound, but the chemistry really worked well, I think."
