De Verlichte Geest in Roeselare is most of the time a sight for sore eyes. It’s no bigger than the sail of a surfboard, is in dire need of a serious make-over and is in a part of town that has seen better days. An excellent choice for a rock concert, I say! And as it goes with journalists and rock concerts, we are always a tad late because there are not to be missed culinary facilities in the neighborhood. That’s the main reason we could only enjoy the last Knock Out Kaine-song, a shout-a-long which was only a little shouted along by the packed to the tits venue. I asked around and the opinions were a mixed bag so we’ll leave it at that.
Adler’s Appetite was a different story altogether. I lost count halfway but think that most of Guns ‘N’ Roses’ ‘Appetite For Destruction’ was played that night and how! In combination with the own excellent material (‘Stardog’, ‘Fading’ & ‘Alive’) we were treated to an almost perfect setlist from Steven and the boys. Well…boys…at that age they’re not exactly called boys anymore but also in that department the spectators were treated well or do you think that a touring band consisting of Rick Stitch (Ladyjack), Michael Thomas (Tuff), Chip Z’Nuff (Enuff Z’Nuff) next to Adler himself is a small matter? Didn’t think so. But anyway, the sound was loud but good this time, all the classics were played, the musicians were ready and willing and the crowd was going berserk at times. A good time was had by all!
