Over the years I have seen many live gigs by English rockers Magnum but I have yet to see them put on a weak show. Currently the band are on tour promoting their 15th and excellent release “Princess Alice & The Broken Arrow”. Despite his advanced age singer Bob Catley is still the proud owner of a wonderful set of tonsils and his excellent voice remains the combo’s sign-board. Another essential part of mister Catley’s performance are his at times somewhat over-the-top arm movements but we’ve come so accustomed to them that a Magnum gig wouldn’t be the same without them. The other members were also in optima forma especially guitarist Tony Clarkin whose six string work was sober but efficient as ever. Filling in for an ill struck Jimmy Copley was none other than Thunder skin basher Harry James. Harry has proven to be a talented drummer in the past and tonight was no different. Of course big part of the set consisted of tracks from the new platter but there were also enough classic tracks which brings me nicely to my final conclusion and that is that Magnum treated us to a fine dose of quality melodic rock.

Ton
Only a few hundred people on this monday in Biebob. Magnum deserves a much bigger crowd. The guitarsound wasn't 100% specially on 'We all run" but Tony did his best to play so good as possible. Fantastic drums by Harry James. We all - three - enjoyed - this concert and indeed they played a lot songs from the new great album. Surprising. Hope to see en hear more from Magnum
