What is Rock Reportís view towards the current way of reviewing promo copies?
First of all: we Ė the Rock Report editors Ė used to enjoy writing reviews in the past. Full copies of the albums were sent in advance of the official release date and all info was present to write decent
Today, most labels prefer to work with either downloads or disposable promo copies, such as CD-Rs, promos with 99 tracks, promos with shortened versions of the tracks, promos with voice-overs, promos with drop-outs, etc.
Working this way isnít fun anymore, so thatís why the RR staff has decided to only write reviews based on full copies of the albums (like in the past).
